Just Wanted to say Hello

Hello...

Just enrolled in my first Scuba class with my wife since we're going on our honeymoon at the end of June.

We are doing out Open water course here and then our 4 open water dives in Punta Cana, DR.

We're super excited on doing this..

trying to look for some good equipment.. the scuba center has some packages but we do not know what's good or bad.

here is the package.

Mares open heal Fins
Mares ankle high boot
snorkel and Mask

all for $250 CDN.

is Mares a good company? what other brands should we look at?

First of all, welcome to The Scuba Forum.

Mares does make some good equipment overall. As for the price on the package, it really depends on what models of equipment are in the package as the price does vary a lot. We also carry Mares and could easily put a package like that for $218, but it is based on lower end Mares gear.

Just make sure it fits you right and ask if you can exchange stuff if you find you don't like it in the pool sessions.
