i decided that my first piece of gear that i would buy would be a wetsuit... so i was wondering what would be the price range (approximately)?

That will depend on many things like the brand, the store pricing policy, the material etc. With what we carry, a basic jacket/john combo starts around $300 (need to add hood, mitts, boots etc) and a full 1 piece jumpsuit and hooded over-vest can go up to nearly $600. There are lots of options in between though.

Make sure it fits correctly, and it is thick enough to keep you warm in the water temperatures you will be diving in. Also, don't be afraid to shop around and check prices. If you would prefer to shop at a store with a higher price, just ask them if they will match the other price. You never know what might happen with that.
