I had the opportunity to try out some ultraflex hoses on my sidemount rig last night. I had two 22inch ultraflex hoses. One on each side. Each had a fixed 90 degree elbow at the regulator. Each was a DS4 and a TX50.
Over all I was very impressed. The hoses are short enough that there is no extra hose anywhere to dangle or bow out. In fact they ran so clean that I was able to remove my belly bungee which was used to tuck hoses into before. There was no discomfort or limitation in movement and they show no wear despite quit harsh treatment on the dive.
I typically chew though hoses at a ferocious rate as they are constantly being scrapped and pushed across sharp rock, getting scratched up, nicked, cut into and snag on stuff. These hoses seem more abrasion resistant than rubber. My hoses are also placed under sharp bends and twists often too. This puts a lot of stress on the connection points. For the ultraflex hoses this shouldn't be as much of a problem as the old rubber ones.
I like them so far and I am impressed with them after one dive. The hoses seem to be well and solidly built.
