http://www.chiefaircraft.com/Models/PowerAirplanes/Dietrich/Images/DIE_50_EXTRA_260_05Lg.jpg
Edit: This generates a 403 (access denied) err if accessed through forum, but seems ok when accessed directly.

Parent link:
http://www.chiefaircraft.com/rcmsec/Models/PowerAirplanes/Dietrich/DIE50Extra260.html
Edit: This seems to work alright, and displays above link correctly.

Hmm, quite interesting. Found the photo on the site, a bit odd to get to. Opened that link in new window, copy/pasted link, all worked. But, as you found, it does not seem to work in a link. I am not sure it is on our end however.
Sorry, don't know what else to do.

I've come across that a few times already. Some web servers don't want you linking to their photos, and they can block it. You just have to find another picture somewhere else.

Sounds plausible. Now that I think about it, the HTML request your browser issues includes the page you were on when you issued the request. Wouldn't be too hard for a server to bounce an image request if it's not part of one of their web pages.

Sounds plausible. Maybe it initially let me through since I'd recently loaded the parent page, so I didn't consistently see the problem.
Yeah thats happened to me. It worked at first, and when i previewed it, but then went back later and the picture was gone.

That's what caught me. It worked fine both when preview, and when viewed normally. It was only when I posted it as a link and opened the link, or I edited the original posting that the pic failed to display.

Yah. This time, even editing the posting didn't show the problem. :-(
I think we need a warning of some sort when this happens. I keep being unsure whether it's just another posting glitch.

Or you could take back control over your internet experience with Firefox and a few plugins. In this case RefControl set to Forget.
<rant>
other notable, almost must have plugins for FireFox.
- RefControl; stop data gathering. Many websites use HTTP Referer to do profiling on you.
- CustomizeGoogle; stops google from profiling you and direct direct advertising in your face all the time. Has a pile of useful fetures that I can bairly browse without now in addition to protecting your freedom on the net.
- NoScript/FlashBlock/Add Block; I haven't seen an advertisement in about 3 years. Not only that they can protect you from exploits such as the latest Flash hack which allows the hack to root your router using UPnP to add you to an onion ring and botnet.
Firefox also gives you an standards compliant browser which makes some websites actually work (and other, very poorly written ones break.. but **** them if they can't follow a standard)
I honestly don't know how people can even surf using IE anymore. Between all the hidden virus filled traps, bugs, bloat and internet garbage you have to deal with...
<super rant>
While your at it switch to Linux and take control of your computer back from Microsofts hands. Linux doesn't phone home or have "Genuine Advantage" (just whose advantage is it to have a legal copy of Windows stop updating anyway?) Stop having your computer spy on you, profile you. As an added bonus your 10 year old computer will work as well as your top of the line, virus ridden Vista box (Most of which are shipped with viruses now, since the OEM manufacturers software is already infected when it is distributed).
