Finally got a chat room running. Still needs some updates (layout, graphics etc.) but it is funtional.

And its even got all the controls so I can:

A) Turn off the Christmas tree crap people would otherwise force me to endure
B) Change my font to a nice fixed width, easy to read one
and
C) Turn off the MOST annoying bleep with every message sound!

It is just chewing up bandwidth, just checking for alternatives, or gonna ask at hosting end.

We have installed a new chat software. It does have a few limitations at the moment, and there is a banner ad temporarily, but if it is less intense on our server, we will keep it running.

There is now a newer version of the chat software we use on TSF being beta tested. Hope to have it installed soon.

It is and has been for a day or so. No idea when it'll be back up. Some technical issues to resolve, especially bandwidth. We'll have to chat in the other place for now.

Yes, it is much better on our server than the last software we used, but still a bit heavy for the hosting we have. I will keep everyone posted about the progress.
