Premature server change of time. Does this affect new post detection?

What do you mean premature? I see the correct time on this page. (confused)

Four lines from the bottom of this (and every?) page, it says "All times are GMT -5. ThHe time now is 08:38 pm" only it's currently 9:38, and it looks like something has un-Daylight Savings Time'd prematurely. Last visit time also appears to be similarly off. (Problems this year resulting from the change in switchover date has been mentioned in several computer-related news articles.) I checked my personal forum options are set to "Detect DST automagically" (or something like that) so the magic may need tweaking.
All right, so it's a bit of a nit. I guess the opposite problem will occur next spring. :)

Oh, and the displayed time stamp of the above post is 8:44 pm. It's currently just that wee bit later.

Mine says
All times are GMT -4. The time now is 11:22 AM
And it's 11:23, but I'll let that slide.

"All times are GMT -4. The time now is 07:06 PM."
This is what I see on this page as I type this. That is GMT -5 but changed for DST still in effect. (I think). The actual time is correct here. I will look into it further though.

Ok, Ben........... I changed a setting for you "behind the scenes". Has it made any difference?

Nada.
BTW, if the forum is running on a Unix system, a cause currently being seen quite frequently is for not-fully-patched OSes.
Having fun down south? Anything interesting to report to those of us in forum-land?

Fun? Um, yeah sure that's it. Fun....
I will have a look at the time issue when I get back into the shop. Have more "access" there. A screen capture of the discrepancy would be nice if you could.

PM sent.
Of course, by the time you get back to the shop, DST will really have ended and the server will no longer be mistaken.
At least until next spring.

Replied to your PM. I still cannot find the problem. Would be nice if someone else had the same problem, might be easier to track down.

OK, I changed the setting I thought I changed the other day. Hopefully it will take this time. Your time zone was set to GMT -5, and Automatically Detect DST was ON, but in my side of things, there is another "DST is Currently In Effect" box that somehow was not checked off. It is now.

Sorry, no luck. Still thinks it's GMT -5.
E-mailed you a new screen capture (since PM wasn't being agreeable.) Maybe something to check, if you hadn't already thought of it: Neil reported his screen showed GMT -4. You might see how his settings compare. Also, if you have command line access to the server, you might check what time it thinks it is.
Luck.
