I was thinking of only bringing a 3mm wetsuit for Mexico in Nov.
Do you guys know what a baseline weighting would be for fresh and salt waters

How much on the tanks and how much goes on the Nomad

On the tanks is a bit of a no-brainer - you want them to be no more than neutral empty, so I'd peg that at 4 pounds a tank on the cam band. The rest is a bit iffier. As a baseline, consider that with a single AL80, a 3mm and a 6 pound stainless steel backplate, I (being around 200 pounds) need 4 pounds in salt water. So I would say that you might want to start with 6 pounds on your Nomad and see if you can go down from there.

Hey,

I recommend a pool dive prior to heading down, for a test dive. It worked out great for me. I may even be able to help out... :)

Thinking of hitting the pool Thursday night in 6.5mm suit/AL80s
Still unsure about drysuit vs wetsuit, looks like 3mm for cave might be a little light.

P.S. anychance a guy could borrow an underwater camera for a week

Yes, a 3mm sounds a little light for mexico unless you're doing short dives.
A 5/4mm is good for most dives, especially if there is a halocline. A drysuit is good for long dives when you can't hit the salt water.

I had a lot of trouble trimming out in my 3mm. So you might end up putting all the weight up on your shoulders. I used coated weights and ran the shoulder strap through them as far back/up as they could go.

Looks like the drysuit is gonna make the trip with me. I'll only use a 3mm for O/W stuff.
Plans are coming together as well, we are booked in the Puerto Advanturas area and are working with DiabloDivers for advice on cave systems.
