There's been much talking about these undies about 6 months ago and I picked up a set (top bottom and socks) of the thicker ones. They worked well for me at the quarry down to 52-55 deg F when I start to get cold. I told myself well, nothing new here...

Last week I grabbed another set from Burton's, this time the thinner ones and used them on Sunday in Brockville. One of my DC gloves sprung a leak - it's not the first time :( - and I felt I was getting water in the glove. After my first dive I noticed that I was dripping water form my left sleeve so for the 2nd dive I decided to pull in the underwear tab whci is normally sticking out of the DS seal.

I ended the second dive quite uncomfortable because of the amount of water in my glove - mind you just a tiny leak where the seams are glued on the inside. To my surprise - or shock I should say - both top and bottom pieces of the Xerotherm were soaking wet but I couldn't feel it at all.

I thought that due to rather warm water temperature and the 2nd layer of underwear I didn't feel it, but I was wrong: the 4th D stuff was wet on the outside but dry on the inside. I asked my dive buddies to doublecheck it to make sure and they confirmed: wet on the outside and dry on the inside.

Quite neat, I think, it's a first time for me... I may try this method next time I'm at the quarry for the thicker underwear.

Safe dives,
Radu

It's the best stuff I ever used.

I'm thinking of getting a thinner set in addition to my Xerotherm Arctic set. It's getting a little too warm to wear the thick stuff now, at least on the surface pre & post dive.

I've been using it at Marc's recommendation since last Oct., including at the quarry...it's brilliant.

Just got new Fourth Element pricing for 2008 and also this brochure about the new SubXero undergarment. Looked really nice at DEMA.

Is it sold like the other 4th E sets? Can you buy top and bottom separately? The great benefit with 4th E has been that one can buy different size tops and bottoms.
And does it already come in all the sizes (eg not just regular M but short-M etc)?

I would have to confirm on sizing, but yes, the separate parts can be ordered as needed just like the other sets. Only thing is, there is no SubZero sock. Just tops and bottoms.
